Alberto Nocera

Alberto Nocera is a Staff Scientist at the Quantum Matter Institute at the University of British Columbia since 2018, where he is working in collaboration with Marcel Franz and Ian Affleck.
After receiving his PhD from University of Roma Tre in Italy, he moved for postdoc positions at Northeastern University working with Adrian Feiguin and then at the Oak Ridge National Lab working with Elbio Dagotto.
Besides his interests in Quantum computing and simulation, Alberto has studied ground state and spectral properties of low-dimensional strongly correlated systems using Matrix Product States techniques. Recently he started a collaboration with D-Wave Inc. funded by a Quantum Alliance Grant by Canada’s NSERC, aiming to explore the capabilities of their Quantum Annealer as a Quantum Simulator.
